Irish Heartbeat - A Tribute to the music of Van Morrison

This energetic tribute explores the eclectic journey of Van Morrison’s musical career featuring award-winning singer/songwriter, Derrick Procell.

Equal parts blue-eyed soul shouter and wild-eyed poet-sorcerer, Van Morrison is among popular music’s true innovators, a restless seeker whose incantatory vocals and alchemical fusion of R&B, jazz, blues, and Celtic folk produced what is regarded as perhaps the most spiritually transcendent body of work in the rock & roll canon with  iconic songs such as “Gloria,” “Brown-Eyed Girl,” and “Moondance.”

The Soul Commitments

The world is made of stories, and those stories make us. Who better to tell a story than the Irish?

On the streets of working class Dublin, 1991 energetic and smart Jimmy Rabbitte pursues his dream of being the manager of a band. But not just any band, he put an ad in the Dublin Herald looking for musicians to be a part of “THE HARDEST WORKING BAND IN THE WORLD!”

Musicians came knocking on his door, but if their influences weren’t American soul icons like James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, or Wilson Pickett, the door was slammed in their faces. Jimmy believed music should be about the sort of people you come from. Speaking the language of the streets! About the struggle of urban decay and about love! But not mushy shite love songs.

And so from one man’s dream is born “The Saviors of Dublin Soul” and STOAG recreates the energy, music and vibe of Alan Parker’s cult classic film, The Commitments, based on the book from Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown Trilogy.
